Women’s New Moon Circle- As I Gather More Years

March 4, 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Circle

Welcome to this month’s womens’ new moon circle. This month’s theme is “As I Gather More Years” and draws inspiration from the astrological sign of the moon’s position in Pisces and the element of Water. It is inspired by Clarissa Pinkola Estes’s poem, titled “The Painted Face of God”, which was written to memorialize her friend, John O’Donohue after his passing. You can read the poem here- The Painted Face of God.

We will focus on evolving wisdom, our relationship with death and mortality, and “soul friends”.

What is a new moon circle?

Women have come together in many cultures and ages to offer mutual support, share their stories, relate and heal. Sharing in a circle committed to deep listening helps us to feel seen and heard, magnifies our strengths, and helps dissipate our worries and challenges. When we speak our deep truth it can help lead to new discoveries and revelations about ourselves, and witnessing others helps us deepen our capacities for compassion and non-judgment.

Humans are hard-wired for connection, and circles provide an opportunity to create deep connections with like-minded women. Our womens’ circles allow us a space to free ourselves from the masks and roles we wear in many other settings and connect to our wild authentic selves.

Our womens’ new moon circles are not aligned with any particular religion or spiritual path, and we welcome anyone who identifies as a woman. While we all come from different experiences, spiritual and cultural backgrounds, we gather on a common ground of Sisterhood (non-judgment, respect, empowering one another), a respect for the earth and intuition (turning inward and to nature for guidance) & co-creation (understanding that we all contribute to co-creating our experience in circle, just as we co-create with the Universe to create our lives).

What happens in circle?

Evolutions Spiral

  • First, we start with a grounding visualization and candle lighting.
  • Then we introduce ourselves.
  • You are invited to draw an oracle card to act as your guide for this moon cycle.
  • Next, we are introduced to the circle theme.
  • A guided meditation is offered.
  • We have the opportunity to draw a card for guidance (either from your own deck, or you can pick one from mine).
  • We extend the invitation to set an intention for this moon cycle.
  • Then the opportunity to share is offered (only if you are comfortable doing so).
  • We finish with circle closing and farewell.

This is for you if you’re looking to:

  • Have time for yourself to delve deeper into your goals
  • Reconnect with yourself and recenter
  • Learn to listen to your inner guidance
  • Experience a safe space where you are seen as resourceful, creative, and whole
  • Be seen, heard, and supported by a community of like-hearted women
  • Deepen your connection with the natural world and your authentic self

Common Questions

Do I need to bring anything?

You only need to bring a journal and a pen to the new moon circle. If you can bring a candle, please do. While it is nice to set the mood with incense and a warm beverage, that is up to you. You will be invited to draw an oracle card if you wish. If you own an oracle deck you’d like to use, you can bring your own, or draw one from mine. You may also want to wear comfortable clothes so you will be comfortable during the meditation, and you may want a yoga mat or a pillow or cushion to sit on if you prefer to sit on the floor. I will email you if you need to bring other common household items for the circle that month.

How do we connect with each other?

All new moon circles are currently being held virtually. The Zoom link will be emailed to you after you register.

Do most people come alone?

Yes. Most women come alone and have never done anything like this before, so nervous feelings are normal.

Do I have to share at circle?

Absolutely not. It’s up to you if you just need to listen and go inwards or if you want to share what’s coming up for you.

Do I need to have my video camera on?

No. If you don’t feel comfortable with it on, or if it’s a distraction you don’t have to. You will also be muted unless you want to talk. It is nice though if you can have the camera on and can be present in circle it does help the energy in the online circle format.

Are there any rules?

The only rule in our new moon circle is confidentiality – what is said in circle, stays in circle. While you may speak of your own experience, you may not share the words or experience of another participant without their permission. While sharing in circle we also ask that you witness the other womens’ shares without judgment and do not respond directly to the shares of others. This helps all to feel heard and eliminates the temptation to try to “fix” something or someone, by giving advice.

Why women only?

Our new moon circles are only open to those that identify as female, including our transgender sisters. The purpose of designating our circles as womens’ circles is not to diminish men. The reason is that limiting our circles to women allows maximum freedom of expression in sharing and a safe space for self-exploration. Further, some women are apt to defer their inner wisdom or voice when in spaces with men, due to patriarchal socialization.

Why are circles held during the new moon?

In many cultures, the moon is associated with or even considered the embodiment of, the feminine. Signally the end of one moon cycle, followed by waxing, full moon, waning. The cycle ends again with a return to the new moon. Astrologically and mythically, the new moon period is a time for introspection and reflection. This makes it an ideal time for intention setting.
